Applying for a postgraduate coursework degree

Are you interested in commencing postgraduate studies? Learn more about our application process on this page if you are:

Found a course that's right for you? Here are a few important things for you to check out before you apply for a postgraduate coursework degree:

• recognition of prior learning guidelines for previous study that might be credited towards your course at UTS.

How to apply

There are three main teaching sessions at UTS:

• Autumn session (February commencement)
• Spring session (July commencement)
• Summer session (November commencement)

Applications are currently open for:

• Spring 2024 (closing date: 30 June 2024)

Step 1: Start your application

Create an online application via the UTS Student Portal.

Future students

If it’s your first time applying or you’re a UTS graduate and never registered on the UTS Student Portal, click Register under Future students.

Current students

If you’re currently studying at UTS or newly enrolled, click Login under Current students.

UTS Graduates

If you’re a UTS graduate and previously registered on the UTS Student Portal, click Login under Complete your application.

Once you’ve logged in, select your desired course under the Postgraduate course search. Courses listed on UTS Online can be found through the Postgraduate Online course search.

Step 2: Provide supporting documentation

You may need to provide the following depending on the requirements of the course:

1. Academic qualifications

This includes official academic transcripts and testamurs.

Documents not in English must be officially translated. Officers authorised to translate official documents into English include:

• NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators & Interpreters) accredited translators
• An official translation from the institution that issued the document
• A translator from a reputable translation company in your home country
• A UTS registered student recruitment agent
• A public notary

Note: Translated documents must have an official (translation) seal and be signed by the translator.

2. Work experience

If required, evidence of your relevant work experience should include:

• a current Curriculum Vitae/ Resume outlining your roles, responsibilities and period of employment, and
• a Statement of Service confirming dates of employment and hours worked on company letterhead or using the UTS Statement of Service Template.

3. English language proficiency

All applicants, whether domestic or international, must satisfy the UTS English language proficiency requirements through one of the listed options accepted by UTS.

4. Exclusion

Declare any exclusions from previous studies on academic or other grounds and complete the UTS Statement of Exclusion Form (if applicable).

5. Personal statement or portfolio

A personal statement or portfolio may be accepted for consideration to a number of courses at UTS.
If required:

• your personal statement should state your reasons for applying and other relevant information in support of your application.
• Your portfolio should consist of the original work of your design projects.

Step 3: After submitting your application

You’ll receive an email acknowledging the submission of your application. You will then be able to:

• Track the status of your application via the UTS Student Portal
• Receive correspondence from UTS via email for further documentation to process your application
• Receive an application outcome via email.

All admissions correspondence from the University will be sent to the email address used to create your UTS application profile.

Step 4: Accepting your offer

If you have met the eligibility requirements, you will receive an unconditional letter of offer via email. Following this, you may proceed to:

• Accept your offer and enrol in subjects through My Student Admin
• Apply for recognition of prior learning (if applicable)
• Apply for a scholarship (if applicable).

I want to study my postgraduate coursework degree online, do I find the course under Postgraduate or Postgraduate Online in My Student Portal?

Please apply under Postgraduate Online if the course is listed on UTS Online.

For all other courses, you can find them under Postgraduate in the UTS Student Portal.
